Main Ingredients:
4 pcs pomfret fish: 1 big onion chopped; 5 cloves garlic paste; green chillies; 1 small tomato chopped; ½ cup coriander leaves chopped.


Spices:
  • ½ tsp kalonji
  • ½ tsp red chilli powder (optional)
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp cumin powder
  • salt and sugar according to taste.


Steps:

  1. Marinate the fish with salt and turmeric powder. Leave it for ten minutes.
  2. Heat oil in a pan. Fry the fish till they turn golden brown. Take them out of the pan and keep aside.
  3. Temper the same oil with kalonji.
  4. When the kalonji starts to splutter, add the chopped onion and fry until they become translucent.
  5. Add garlic paste. Fry for a while.
  6. Now add tomato and green chillies. Fry until the tomato becomes soft.
  7. Add salt, sugar, turmeric powder, chilli powder, and cumin powder. Stir well until the oil separates from masala.
  8. Add some water and let it be boiled.
  9. Add fried fish and cover it. Allow it to cook in medium flame for 5-6 minutes.
  10. Open the lid. Garnish with coriander leaves.
  11. Now the fish is ready to be served with rice.
