Main Ingredients:
3 medium-sized onion chopped; 3 tsp poppy seed; 4 green chillies (slitted); ½ cup chopped tomato; mustard oil (preferably) for cooking.

  • salt to taste
  • ½ tsp turmeric powder.


  1. Wash the poppy seed and make a thick paste of it along with two green chillies [use a strainer for washing the poppy seed].
  2. Heat mustard oil in a pan/kadai. Fry the chopped onion with a pinch of salt and turmeric powder.
  3. When the onion turns golden brown, add the green chillies and chopped tomatoes. Fry for another 3-4 minutes.
  4. Now add the poppy seed paste to it. Mix it well.
  5. Add salt and turmeric powder.
  6. Cook it in low flame for 3-4 minutes.
  7. Add 1 tsp mustard oil and turn off the heat.
  8. Serve it with rice or roti (chapati).
