Main ingredients:
2 masala papad; 2 big-sized potatoes cut into eight pieces each; 2 green chillies slitted lengthwise.


Spices :
  • ½ tsp kalonji
  • ½ tsp chilli powder
  • ½ tsp cumin powder
  • ½ tsp coriander powder
  • ½ tsp turmeric powder
  • Salt according to taste
  • 1 tsp mustard oil.
Steps :

  1. Temper the oil with kalonji. When the aroma comes out, add the potatoes and fry till golden brown.
  2. Add all the spices one by one along with green chillies. Cook it for 5-6 minutes in medium flame.
  3. Add 1 cup of water and cover it. Allow it to cook until the potatoes are done.
  4. Break each papad into eight pieces and add into the curry. Stir it for 3-4 minutes.
  5. Add one tsp of mustard oil and turn off the heat.
  6. Serve it with rice or roti.

Tips:

  1. Add the papad when the potato pieces are fully cooked.
  2. Don't cook the curry more than 4 minutes after adding the papad pieces, otherwise it will get mashed.
